Whittlesea Challenge on Saturday

Who is a starter for the Whittlesea Challenge on Saturday am? I have checked the course and I am a little concerned that there are not any short cuts for those of us who get a little cold and tired after the first climb so Potter, Muppet and Connor might have to endure the whole course!

  1. I'll be doing it with three others. Would like that short cut as feeling pretty crapy (cold) at present. Perhaps will ride into form!
In Potter's defence, he was ill last year.

  2. I'm in too, I believe the start is 8.30, so as per last year I take it we will start NEAR the line just before they do to avoid the rush. Forecast isn't great but will have a tailwind home.

  3. I'm no good as kids sport sat morning. Will probably go out Sunday morning for a lazy spin.

  4. OK this is my first post, a very emotional moment for me...

I'm keen for Saturday but struggling with a severe bout of man flu. I haven't ridden for 2 weeks so will be a hot favourite for Lanterne Rouge. I really need to do some miles though so if I can breath through through my nose on Friday night I'm going to have a crack.

Spanglish, do you want to drive out in convoy or are you riding from home?

    And is Radar Sprotty??

  5. Skywalker,

Can I say the photo was well worth the wait, staged or found?
Yes doing the ride, also have a touch of the cold. Also have a crankset with a boken bolt, apparently there is another bolt in the States somewhere. Going to throw on the 9 speed compact and see how that goes??
Sorry not strong enough (in the mind) for the standard 53-39. One day!
And no, not riding from home, driving out.

  6. Spanglish, the pre 8.30am start sounds like a good plan. I will check with the text boys ( I can't believe that they are not up with this blog technology stuff!!)and see if they are in and let you know. Muppet has a bit of a sniffle/man cold (not as severe as man flu which is obviously the real deal Luke) and is only a 50/50 chance but will definitely be in on the early start if he is coming as he has home duties early in the afternoon.

  8. Luke, please collect me from the Death Star in Clifton Hill, just let me know what time just in case we all abandon as the forecast is specifically unspecific 'areas of rain'. Ta

  9. So judging by all the 9 speed, carbon fibre gear box in the states, bolt from the blue talk I'm guessing that Radar is either Jamie, or Sleepy, or possibly that guy George knows who was pretending to know us before we went to Hotham and never showed up because he was in fact a Latvian cyber stalker...c'mon come clean Radar

  10. Sorry Ben, took the question is Radar Sprotty? to be am I riding at Whittlesea. Yes I am Sprotty and yes I am riding at Whittlesea. Buggered my good knee yesterday coming off a fence. Hopefully can get the 9 speed compact to work, otherwise will have to ride the big boys crank. Hope the man flu gets better.

  12. Hello Hello Hello, I've finally made it and feeling very Gen Y proud of myself...

As you can see I've trimmed down in preparation for tomorrow. I'm hearing a few excuses mounting though...

  13. Thanks Potter. I followed his brother yesterday morning on the bike through southbank who had half his enourmous butt crack showing. Besides scaring all the women in suits, had to seriously bite my tongue when he followed me to NAB and exposed all his glory to us in the changerooms. ERRRRRRRRRRR

  14. Hey Potter - I love the photo and good to see you have trimmed down a touch!

Rain check early tomorrow - it is fairly ordinary out there at the moment and there are not any short cuts.
