Giro di Boot

  1. Ode to Cadel (Yorick) Evans

Alas, poor Yorick Evans! I knew him, Spanglish; a fellow of infinite jest, of most excellent fancy pants; his bike hath borne him on its back a thousand times; and now, how abhorred in my imagination it is that he fades again! My gorge rises at it. Here hung those hips that have twisted I know not how oft. Where be your legs now? (Hamlet Mechanic, V.i)

  2. A bountiful jest yo Mechanic of yore. Bearing in mind ol Yorick Evans ability to mimic a crab whenst riding, it may be interesting to find a verse relating to Launce and the dog (The Two Gentlemen of Verona)

  3. Cadel was certainly abanded. The rest of the BMC team finished 4 to 7 minutes behind him on the stage! The TTT tonight is all uphill so he is in for some pain at the front

  4. Team BMC only lost 1 minute 20, not too bad, Cadel is still within 2 minutes. The test will be the individual time trial. A descent climb with some of it on gravel. And who climbs well without any help?
    Stage 16 from memory?

  5. Basso, not sure he was "abanded", more like he got in less crashes. However, I did read on a cycling site, words to the effect "Cadel is the only BMC member in Italy, the rest are still in the netherlands!"
