Was chatting with my brother in law Rik yesterday who did it too (he joined us on the BBTT Toolangi / King Lake ride).
He had some even better photos of bike chains that were getting completed caked in mud and therefore unable to be moved. Very funny to see expensive bikes being washed in muddy water just to free up cogs, or even guys using their hands to clean chains. Rick said he gave up cleaning at one point and walked 2km through mud as it was just as fast as trying to ride.
Otherwise he said the drier single track sections were stunning and somehow made up for the pain.

Yes it looks "character building".
ReplyDeleteI just know that if I go out on the MTB it will cost me money at the moment. But it's still the bike of choice.
