1 in 20 times

Ok time to get personal. Time and your approximate weight.

  1. I don't think I go down that fast!

  2. Man, with 90kg behind you, you should get to the base before you've left the top. :)

That filthy 'ho Basso's bike weighs more than he does, and Sleepy isn't even three dimensional.

  3. Yes you can see my problem. The 90kg goes down hill very well. I know the Hampster goes up and down fast as does Gonz (not sure of nickname). Then there are others that go up fast but don't have the kiwi fruit (Skywalker term) to go down fast. Thats another topic I guess.

  4. 16 Mins 55 secs (74kg) and it bloody hurt.

Spanglish, you need to post an individual time that didn't include staring at arses for 17 mins and 25 secs.

I think Sleepy has gone below the 16 mins 30 sec mark at some point.

  5. A BBTT 1/20 race would finish something like;

    Sleepy
Basso (though has the wood on sleepy on the longer rides)
    Spanglish the wheel sucker
Hamster (if can find the right gear)
Skywalker (can beat hamster if force is on)
    Muppet (consisent)
Potter (improved a lot, though loses form in summer)
Connor (seems to always do it after a big night out)
Lolly boy (watch out when he gets his new bike)
Mechanic (used to be number 1)
    Radar

Unsure where to put fridge, joker, TB, steelisreal, deezmon, JK, B-dog, GI Joe plus other mid week regulars

  6. Yeah, yeah Basso, I only stayed behind for that long as your such a bad loser. If we take into consideration rider weight/bike weight those two stick insects on top at the mo would be dancing with Radar at the back, grappling with the thought that at any moment The Fridge is going to steamroller over them... before dismounting and eating them. How does someone who is flat with a nose weigh 74kg? Filthy doper. I've seen more lard on John Cooper Clarke. 16.30 converted to my weight/bike weight equals about 18 mins. Sleepy is not only in bed all the time he's a sloth!...and he owes me BBTT kit money too...lets see him do 16.30 without kneecaps.

  7. We ought to have a descent time too, bet the Muppet would win that, although The Mechanic and Cipo are no slouches in that department. I can confidently say there would be need for a clock for me...a luna calender would suffice...we could measure the time in new moons!

  8. 18.14 is my best time, from memory I wheel sucked Basso, Spanglish & Hamster to the false flat and then staggered to the line once the first two fired their after burners and left us for dead....71kgs at the moment

Basso you're just being modest, you'd have Sleepy covered I reckon, maybe not Lord Alberto Spanglish in his current dodgy contaminated meat chugging phase though!

The mechanic has the biggest plums on the descent and would win most downhill contests in my opinion. Haven't seen you for a while radar, but at 90 kegs I'm tipping you might be an outside chance to challenge the brave Italian

  9. For those tooling up....Sleepy has paid!!
I'd like to know how Basso's pal got down to 15minutes, thats really spanking it.

71kgs...does that make you 'our' lightest?

    Here you go:
    (your weight + bike weight) x 11.87 = A
A divided by 60 gives you a decimal time in minutes
ie mine is 17.48, thats is approx 17 and a half minutes.

That formula puts my present watts into your body/bike...

which also means that to get to 16 mins, for example, i would have to lose 5.5kgs. Yeah fucking fat chance!!!!! I 'd say my potential for going much faster is limited, holding the pace for longer is probably a more likely scenario.

  10. Spanaglish, could you possibly "dumb down" the above formulae for this Queenslander. I am interested how it works. PS I actually weigh more then yourself and your bike together. Time to call Jenny.

    ReplyDelete
  11. 90 + 7.5bike x 11.87 = 1157
    1157 divided by 60 = 19.28 ie 19mins 15 secs

Thats your body, your bike but my thighs!! Yuk!!

With your present power output you would have to lose 11 kgs to do 19.15
Call Jenny and her extended family! :-)

  12. Got that but the 11.87? where is that pulled from?

  13. Found this

  14. Interestingly, i think Jono started at 20 mins, but he is half our age at least, and therefore the potential for improvement is dramatic, whereas my potential for decline is just as dramatic!
I simply worked out my best time and divided by W+BW to get a ratio.
I am sure its accuracy can be challenged but its close enough.
Check some of these guys out, quite a few are around 65kg
If i weighed 65 kg on a 7 kg bike with my present watts thats a 14min time. As I said...I've probably peaked...alpine descent from here on in!!
The weight issue gets worst the steeper the climb, Lets not forget, the 1/20 is not difficult at all. Try the back of Falls Creek.

Should have tried this shit when i was 20.

  15. "Should have tried this shit when i was 20"

    No I was 103kg then!

  16. Bummer. I've missed all the fun.

Did a 22min flat up the other day. Sitting at 80kg but that's high tide and we seem to dropping slowly. Hoping for 75/76 but will settle for 77/78. Should be able to drop that time with a big effort next ride.

Don't know bike weight but this should be measured complete with water bottles, etc.

Descent times are 9-12mins depending on nad size. BBTT (shawry) was king of descent but I'm no longer breaking either - except for the one hairpin.

Skywalker and Spanglish, when you suck on Basso,Hamster and othrs I presume that's following your descent????

    ReplyDelete
  17. BTW. best time was 19 mins at 77kg (3 years ago

    ReplyDelete
  18. Yes on the descent, but unlike you WE DON'T SWALLOW.

    ReplyDelete
  19. Ok here we go. Just to keep in line with Basso's schedule I clocked 21 minutes and 59 seconds this morning to come in 1 second in front of the mechanics nominated time!

Current weight is about 84kg (slightly above post Tour de France punching weight!)

I not sure where the weight factor of 11.87 comes from but shouldn't there be a weight for age factor or maybe a separate masters section for the "Over 50's"??
