21 comments:

  1. Broke another part off my mountain bike riding to work on Tuesday and sick of reparing (worked out I've done over 30k kms in last 10 years) so looking to upgrade on the weekend. Radar, Mechanic what do you think of these deals (I Like the look of the BMC)?

  2. do you need those type of wheels/suspension for work or could you use a flat bar road bike?

  3. Yep, want a hard tail mountain bike. The bike track to work is pretty rough in places and will also use the bike on ad hoc mountain bike adventures.

  6. didn't Radar and The Mechanic recently purchase bargain price MB's, i am sure The Mechanics is carbon too. It was in a June post from Goldcross but it might be worth sms him 0418346653

  7. Can't get the BMC to open. Brad said Bmc would be a better frame if you wanted to upgrade components.

Giant, there are a lot of them so you could talk a shop down pretty easy.

Scott looks good, light frame. Medium would fit you from memory. Check out bikes.com.au they have the scott for $1500.00.

In short all similar. For what you want to do the Scott would be the way to go.

  8. OK.
BMC has best overall groupset b/c it's all XT.
Giant might have better brakes but drops quality on some of the other componentry.
The scott is really light for an alloy frame.
Same forks. Scott has ol reliable 6061 alloy but mixes up componentry a bit. Elixir brakes are the range with Avids top brakes.
Giant has better wheels so this and mixed components may be what's boosting price over BMC.

Scott might be best bike but can't see all other bikes' components.

BMC might be best value. If you can get that sort of stuff $1300 or less you're flying.

    I'd probably go the BMC.

  9. There endeth the lesson Basso. No good storing your bloodbags in the closet at the NAB, always go straight to the source. If you want to know who built the frame and what underwear they were wearing TM is the man. Speaking of which Georgie, your going to get a semi-permanent when you see my LeMond.

  11. Excellent work. Don't think you could've gone wrong.

Lysterfield or You Yangs. Sounds great.

Spanglish, the Lemond? Yes keen to see. Was this retro or new? I think you had mentioned it to me.

  12. Basso, how were the bars and cranks upgraded? Carbon Bars?
Boys are looking for hardtail training bikes. Can I ask how much and where?

  13. My one was the only one left with the upgraded components. Comes down to how much they want to pay, there are 3 different alloy models all with the same frame. Difference is colour and components.
