Can anyone help?

Previous post's by GI Joe and Spanglish have me thinking.

Does anyone have an idea of what sort of frame this is? Or how to find out?

From the horizintal drops, it is a track bike with a flip flop hub. Cog on each side.

Has three little flip top lids where I assume you add oil. Front and rear hbs and the crank.

But then would a track bike have lugs for a pump? Or for that matter, provision for brakes?

Also has cable routing lugs if that the term.

Apart from that I have nothing.

  1. my best guess is a town bike from 50/60's. That flip flop hub doesn't look like original kit. Nor do the pedals. Probably had a Sturmey Archer 3 speed rear hub originally. Maybe some 70's urban hipster got to it! The guys at commuter cycles in brunswick have experience with this sort of thing. They will be able to tell way more than me.

  2. Thanks Steel,
I'm off to Brunswick. Not sure what the 3 speed hub is. Looking at the bike, not sure there would be enough room for 3 cogs at the rear. Yes pedals not original, crank from the uk. Was found on the hard rubbish about 3 years ago. Some old guy owned. I would say he had a go at painting it.
You, sorry Spanglish has got me interested in a project. If the bikes crap I won't bother.
