I have purchased it. Its a tad light.. I keep doing wheelies on it!! Its a 2010 model, but new, straight out of the wharehouse and into my arms. Yes. Its plastic.
Does ride beautifully, very smooth regardless of road surface, spins up well. The DuraAce I find a little more 'mechanical' than the Ultegra on the Scott. I did weigh the DuraAce wheels and they are spot on with there weights too.
I weighed it this morning, 7.3kg with water bottle cages and pedals. The Scott is in at 8.4kg.
I also feel that the Mavic Ksyrium SSC SL rolls better than the Dura Ace 7900 CL 24 too, something Muppet noted too. But they are a little heavier by 150gm (pair). If you were to judge them aesthetically too, the SL's look indestructible whereas the Shimano's look frail. Time will tell.
Took you till now to weigh it? Give the DA hubs some time. I would think they would be better? Could be wrong.. So many variables though. What are you comparing it with? A heavier bike/jockey?
I know, I was afraid of being disapointed. But all's well, back with the 'woody'. The wheels are only 100grm different. Don't know why the DA's would be better, equal types of wheel, non?
Faliero Masi was known as “The Tailor” because of the quality of his craftsmanship and his unbending belief in fitting the bike to the rider and the type of riding to be done. The top riders of the time would visit Masi to have their bikes made because of his reputation as the best. Mythical riders like Fausto Coppi, Luison Bobet, Felice Gimondi, Rick van Looy, Jacques Anquetil and Eddy Merckx. These legends of the sport would pay to have Masi craft their frames and then have them painted and decaled as their official team bikes. Year after year.
Obviously, he has nothing to do with this bike!!! but they are a slightly unusual manufacturer and make some funky city bikes and still make a range of traditional steel bikes.
