TYRES

  1. Picked up recently, Vittoria Diamante Pro and Vittoria Rubino Pro Slick.
At the moment I am using the Conti GP 4000S on the back with the Rubino Pro Slick on the front.

What's the thoughts on the two Vittoria's listed here.
    What else are you using?

  2. Vittoria Rubino Pro Slick to 150PSI, just don't like stopping in the wet?

  3. Man, thats pushing the limits, they are only rated to 140PSI. I thought i was doing well with 120.How do you rate them compared to the Conti's?

  4. 150 is dangerous and uncomfortable!

  5. Pressures do depend on rider weight.
    Found a useful link:

    http://www.cycling-inform.com/equipment/173-what-is-the-best-tire-pressure-for-bicycle-tires

from this, Cipo, I 'd say you could afford to come down a few PSI and still be within recommendations. whereas I might go up 5 on the rear!

  6. Man, i thought they were rated to 145, so 150 was no alarm, will have to check model No. and Bar Rating? Traditionally i have found Vitt's to be be too soft and don't offer any longevity, thus bloody puncture too easily? Much prefer Conti's (Used to run LA Comps to 200 but did not like all that glue) Hutchies and will probably try a pair of SChawbles Ultremo XF?? Yes all depends on the body weight of rider, 100 is like ive got a bloody flat!

  7. Oh, the Vitts came standard on the New Thang.

  8. Yep. The Vitorrias came with the bike, like you I have, previously, found them to be soft and not durable.
Tried the Schawbes. But, touch wood, on the SCOTT, had Conti's which are coming up to the last smidgen on the wear marks, 3500k's...

  9. Open Pro II I liked, three had no luck with punctures. Have been happy with the schawabes ultremos. Have no idea of KM count. About to put Vittoria Corso evo on the tubular wheels. Will wait and see.

  10. As I've stated previously. Vittoria's noticably more comfortable but puncture way to easy. Last time I had the newest improved Evo CX...punctured first ride. Ultremo have good rap but we did have them balloon on that mountain biker's santacruz rodebike up north. Since then I had a couple of similar stories.
The dickhead who had SBR (he's an aeronautical engineer he'll tell you) was bragging to me that he was helping Zipp with some research and they determined that 110psi was ideal...we didn't discuss relative rider weight.

  11. I heard the 110 theory also, but I think thats ideal pressure, ie ideal bike with the ideal weight rider on it... not with Cipo on it... fine upstanding slim christian that he is :-)

obviously Sleepy doesn't even bother putting air in his tyres...

  12. Float like a butterfly....
Have used the Vittoria Rubino Pro techs before and found that if you do unfortunately puncture, fingertips will snap off before the bead on the tyre breaches the rim, especially on a sub antarctic Melb morning.Have the corsa evo cx tubulars on the Zipps and on a billiard table surface like the Phillip Island race track, absolutely amazing. But at 170 psi(they go to 200-never had the balls to pump them this high!!)a road surface of anything less and molar fillings have been known to come loose!!.....
